Indoor Percussion
The E D White indoor percussion program began in 2001 as a part of the Cardinal Music program at E D White Catholic High School in Thibodaux Louisiana, consisting of students in grades 8-12. Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theater; thus, the activity is often referred to as percussion theater.
E D White has competed in the Louisiana Mississippi percussion circuit since 2002 and has won 14 gold medals and 3 silver medals at the circuits’ championships, all while humbly representing the character and spiritual commitment expected by students enrolled at E D White. They have also had the privilege of attending the WGI world championships in Dayton Ohio, finishing as finalists 4 out of the 10 times attending, with 2 of those titles being the PSA silver medal in 2017 and 2019 - an international honor.
This particular year, on September 6 & 7, 2019, WGI launched the first-ever WGIcon in New Orleans - an educating platform for administrators of Percussion, Winds, and Color Guard groups around the globe. E D White’s very own Keith Ledet was chosen as a speaker to present “Inside the Show E D White High School PSA” - a backstage look at how the vision for a performance becomes a reality from the birthing to the final product. The conference was such a success that plans are already in the works for the next one.
