50+ Years of Marching Band Excellence: Our Cardinal Vanguard Marching Band has a long and proud history of quality and engaging performances, instilling musicianship, teamwork, and leadership in students. They recently competed in the Bands of America Marching Competition for the first time in 30 years, placing 2nd in their class and 11th overall, and made a televised appearance in the National Cherry Blossom Parade. The Cardinal Vanguard is also the 2024 LMEA Class 3A State Champions.

Award-Winning Indoor Programs: Our Indoor Percussion ensemble has a culture of excellence, boasting 17 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal at the Louisiana Mississippi percussion circuit championships since 2002. They've been WGI World Championship finalists 5 out of 12 times, including two PSA silver medals (2017, 2019) and a bronze medal in 2025 . The Winterguard has been undefeated in the Louisiana Mississippi region since 2020 and achieved an impressive 5th place finish at WGI National Finals in 2023.

Distinguished Concert Band: Our Concert Band has a 50-year history of amazing concerts, consistently achieving superior ratings at school and concert festivals, and has even performed at Carnegie Hall.

Our comprehensive band complex features a main rehearsal space designed for concert band, separate rooms for battery percussion and front ensemble rehearsals, dedicated practice rooms, and a color guard space.

The well-equipped band room also serves as a rehearsal site for the district junior high honor band.

Outdoor facilities include a lined cement parking lot for marching band and indoor percussion. The entire school community supports our efforts, including helping to clear the lot when needed.

We're equipped with a Clubhouse semi-trailer, featuring a higher-tier package for a professional-grade mobile workspace and storage solution, essential for travel, competitions, and events.

Work with Feeder Programs

You'll actively engage with and support our growing feeder programs, fostering a seamless transition for young musicians into our high school program. These feeder programs also benefit from dedicated rehearsal areas beyond just storage closets, providing ample space for meaningful engagement with younger students and allowing you to make a significant impact on their foundational musical development.

At the high school level, we offer three band classes and three percussion classes daily, separated by skill level, ensuring small class sizes and an excellent student-to-teacher ratio for individualized instruction.

Our school administration is highly supportive, with the school president being a former director of the program. Our principal publicly celebrates our accomplishments, regularly attends performances, and provides inspiring talks to our students. Even our athletic director delivers motivational speeches and champions the program's importance to our school culture.
